What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathic medicine is derived from the healing power of nature and is based on the belief that thenatural_healing human body has an innate healing ability. A Naturopath may use a range of different healing modalities such as clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, Bach flowers, as well as lifestyle changes, water therapy and exercise to bring the body back to optimum health and wellness. Kimberly will design a comprehensive treatment plan that blends the best of modern medical science and traditional natural medical approaches to not only treat disease, but to also restore health.

The practice of naturopathy is based on five key principles:
1. First do no harm – naturopathic practitioners choose therapies with no toxic side-effects that do not suppress symptoms
2. Treat the whole person – practitioners believe a person’s health is affected by many factors – physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental & social. All of these are taken into consideration when your treatment plan is designed.
3. Treat the cause – Practitioners seek to identify and treat the cause of a disease or condition rather than treat the symptoms.
4. Prevention is the best cure – Practitioners teach ways of healthy living that are most likely to prevent illness
5. Physician as teacher – Practitioners consider it important to educate their patients in learning how their body uniquely responds in health and illness.
